Gamelan Orchestra



Gamelan
 is a musical ensemble from Indonesia, usually from the island of Bali or Java. The gamelan predates the Hindu-Buddhist culture in its earliest records and instead represents a native art form. Gamelan was developed to its present form in the Majapahit Empire of instruments.

Wayang Kulit
 Gamelan music in general is often used as a traditional art of accompaniment 'wayang kulit', 'wayang orang' (people dance) and various ritual ceremonies. In a traditional Javanese Gamelan is also used for ritual of 'temu manten' (engagement or marriage), a ritual to bring together both the future bride.

In Bali, Balinese gamelan is used in a variety of Balinese traditional ritual, such as 'Cutting Teeth', a ceremony marking the child has entered puberty. However, in its development, the wider use of art in a variety of gamelan. Gamelan is often a combination of poetry and dance.

Saron Barung
