R. Kelly aka Robert Sylvester Kelly when offstage. Born on January 8, 1967 in Chicago of Illinois, he has been a supreme figure in the R&B music scene ever since 1990s.
When Kelly was young along with his two brothers, sister and mother Joanne, he did not have much financial support and struggle with the pressure of his youth. He overcomes this by showing interest in basketball and music which lead to his career.
Inspired by his high school music teacher Lena McLin, Kelly entered a career in music after singing the Stevie Wonder classic "Ribbon in the Sky" at his high school talent show.
Kelly released one of his most successful singles “I Believe I Can Fly” in 1996, an inspirational song originally released on the soundtrack for the film Space Jam. It reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the UK Charts for three weeks and won 3 Grammys in 1998.
